People try various techniques to play and win the lottery. When winners tell their winning story, there is always something unusual and unique about every experience. Some use birth dates of their loved one, some use their locker number, some go for special numbers close to their heart. Their stories are always fascinating and compelling at the same time.

However, what makes the story of a 22-year-old Detroit area man’s lottery winning story unique is his odd technique used to pick the numbers. The winner chose to remain anonymous and told the state lottery authorities, Michigan Lottery, that he likes to play instant games and always purchases tickets with odd numbers. However, his literally odd strategy doesn’t seem odd anymore as he just won the jackpot of $2 Million.

Further, he said that “the diamond Dazzler game is my favorite, so I asked the clerk about the number. When she said ‘21’, I purchased it instantly. I scratched it off in the store, and when I realized it was a winner, I looked at the clerk and then at my friend who was with me at that time and ran out to my car.” He was happy and shocked at the same time and he took some time to process what just happened.

He collected his prize on Wednesday at state lottery offices in Lansing. He chose the lump sum cash payment option and received about $1.3 Million after paying off the taxes. He said he is going to buy a car and make investments with the prize money. Michigan allows winners of $10,000 and more remain anonymous for the sake of their safety and privacy. If he had won Powerball or Mega Millions, he would have been required to release his name publicly to collect.

This was an unusual trick to play. But there are various unusual tricks people use to pick their numbers to win. Read some of the tricks here!
